Flan With Dulce De Leche And Coconut Flan

Option 1 of dulce de leche flan and coconut flan

Flan is a dessert that is consumed in many parts of the world, the one that is prepared with dulce de leche is originally from the Río de la Plata, that is, from Argentina.

Ingredients:

  • 1 liter of milk.
  • 7 eggs.
  • 500 grams of dulce de leche.
  • 50 grams of grated coconut.

Step by Step:

Heat the milk with the dulce de leche in a saucepan, over low heat, stirring well with a wooden spoon until both ingredients are integrated. Then,  remove from the heat and reserve a few minutes.

In a bowl, beat the eggs at room temperature, one by one, using a fork. In this way, you will prevent the flan from being full of holes.

Subsequently, strain over the hot milk so that clots do not form and add the grated coconut. Turn on the oven and fill a large saucepan with water.

Put the saucepan with the milk, dulce de leche, eggs and grated coconut inside. Cook for about two hours. To finish, remove from the oven and let it cool well to unmold.

Option 2 of caramel flan and coconut flan

In this case, you will use condensed milk and caramel to give it a different and very rich flavor. You can accompany it with dulce de leche or whipped cream once you serve it.

What ingredients do you need?

  • 1 can of condensed milk.
  • 2 measures of the milk can.
  • 5 eggs
  • 100 grams of grated coconut.
  • ¾ cup of sugar,
  • 2 tablespoons of water.

How do you prepare?

Beat the eggs one by one and warm the milk a little and mix with the condensed milk. Then add it  over the eggs without stopping stirring. Next, add the grated coconut and blend well.

To make the caramel, put the sugar in a saucepan along with two tablespoons of water and heat over low heat without stopping mixing, until it turns dark. When the caramel solidifies, spread it in the flan mold and then pour in the cream of the flan.

You have to cook it in a double boiler in the oven as explained in the previous recipe, for 50 minutes. After that time, remove from the oven and let it cool until it is at room temperature. Then, put it in the fridge for several hours (better if it is overnight. Unmold before serving.

Option 3 of caramel flan and coconut flan

If you have tried dulce de leche, it will be very difficult for you to stop eating it and add it to all your sweet recipes. You need the following ingredients:

  • 150 grams of dulce de leche.
  • 500 ml of milk.
  • 4 tablespoons of sugar.
  • 4 eggs
  • 50 grams of grated coconut.
  • Caramel (½ cup of sugar and 2 tablespoons of water).

Steps to follow

flan caramel Beat the eggs one by one and add the dulce de leche at room temperature. Then pour in the milk and keep stirring and add the sugar and beat so that it dissolves well.

Finally put the grated coconut, also stir so that it melts and also obtain a homogeneous cream. Keep beating so that the coconut “rises” and reserve.  

Prepare the caramel by heating the sugar and water in a saucepan. You can also use liquid caramel (the one that is thrown on top of ice cream, for example).

Meanwhile, turn on the oven and pour the caramel into the flan mold and then the mixture. Fill a saucepan with water and place the container with the flan inside.

Cook for about an hour (you can try poking it to check that it is ready). After this time, remove from the oven and let it cool completely before unmolding (place a plate on top of the mold and turn, it will come off by itself).

You can accompany it with more dulce de leche, cream, or sprinkle with grated coconut for a wonderful flavor.
