Aloe vera shampoo

Different studies attribute aloe vera the property of softening the dermis, which is why it is recommended in case of wounds or burns. It is also used in other personal hygiene products.

To make an aloe shampoo you will need the gel or, if you have a plant, you can cut some stems to extract the sage or aloe. The ingredients and utensils you will need are:

  • 60 ml of aloe vera gel or at least 3 stems
  • The same amount of liquid castile soap
  • 5 ml of glycerin
  • 1 ml of vegetable oil
  • Optional: vegetable oils
  • Measurer
  • Mixing bowl
  • Bottle
  • Spoon
  • Funnel
  • Towel or cloth

It brings together the four main ingredients on the list, which can be bought in health or food stores without problems.

If you are going to use the aloe vera from the plant, remove the contents of the stems with a spoon, be careful not to prick yourself with the small thorns that it presents. The cut must be longitudinal to be able to separate the sheet into two parts.

At the same time, you can add essential drops of some essence to the preparation so that it has a shampoo aroma. There are those who also choose to place dry sprigs of rosemary to improve the symptoms of damaged or dry hair.

Mix everything in a bowl with a spoon or whisk. Add essential oils if you prefer. You will get approximately 120 ml of product to use. Put this shampoo in a bottle using a funnel. Before using it, don’t forget to shake to mix the ingredients again.

Homemade toothpaste

It can be fun to make your own toothpaste because you will also be helping the planet and you can include it in your natural personal hygiene products.

The necessary ingredients are:

  • 110 g of baking soda
  • Peppermint oil
  • Table salt
  • Odorless glycerin (not the kind that is sold to hydrate the skin)
  • Optional: hydrogen peroxide (hydrogen peroxide) for home use, not for industrial use or for bleaching hair.
  • Container
  • Spoon

Place the baking soda in a container. This ingredient would have the ability to naturally clean and help whiten teeth, according to an article published in the Journal of the American Dental Association .

Add 20 grams of fine salt. Then pour in six teaspoons of glycerin to “sweeten” the mixture. Some opt for xylitol, which is natural and helps care for gums and teeth. Then add ¼ cup of hydrogen peroxide and a drop of peppermint essential oil.

The peroxide would naturally disinfect the mouth and whiten the teeth. However, it has not been established so far whether its use would be 100% safe. You can use water if you don’t have it at home.

Peppermint refreshes and helps to have good breath, for this reason some studies indicate that it could be used to alleviate the symptoms of halitosis. The oil you use should not contain sugar or be very acidic because otherwise it would react effervescently with the bicarbonate.

Mix everything until a paste forms. You can add more hydrogen peroxide to the desired consistency. Store in a plastic container with a lid so it doesn’t dry out. You can also clean the tube of toothpaste that you used.

Natural deodorant

Did you know that you can make a homemade deodorant with just a few ingredients that you probably have at home? For this you would need:

  • Container
  • Sodium bicarbonate
  • Coconut oil
  • Cornstarch

In a wide-mouthed container, place ¼ cup of bicarbonate, which would help eliminate bad odors from the armpits. Add the same amount of cornstarch, which will help you avoid sweating and prevent skin irritation.

Cover the jar well and shake to combine. Apply the powder with a cotton ball, a brush, or your fingers directly. If you want it to be in cream, you should put the mixture on the fire until it forms a paste. Let it cool and you can use it with a spatula, for example or with your fingers.

Homemade soap

Did you know that you can make it with used cooking oil ? In addition to caring for the environment, you will be using natural personal hygiene products without animal fat.

The ingredients are:

  • 1 liter of used oil (strained)
  • 800 ml of distilled water
  • 150 grams of caustic soda
  • Optional: coconut oil

Dilute caustic soda in distilled water, wear a mask because it usually produces toxic fumes. Do it in a ventilated place or outdoors. High temperature reaction will occur, wait for it to cool down.

Pour in the oil little by little and stir constantly, to avoid “cutting”. Aromatize using essential oils such as coconut. Pour into different molds and let them harden for a month. Then you can use it for personal hygiene, washing clothes, etc.

Remember: these homemade personal hygiene products could cause skin allergies. Consult your doctor before using them and visit him again if you notice any discomfort on your skin.
