Time Flies Or Gets Out Of Hand?

Time passes, sometimes fast, sometimes slower. When we are in a queue, it is eternal. However, at dinners with friends or in the company of those we want to be with, it flies.

Why are there weeks that go by very slowly and others faster? All of this depends on our perspective, what we are doing, how we are making the most of each moment.

However, there is a clear difference between flying or getting out of hand.

  • The first is the result of our responsibilities, of a lack of hours to dedicate it to what we want.
  • The second is the product of not knowing how to take advantage of every minute of our life.

Don’t waste your time, get out of autopilot!

What is the autopilot? Basically eating, working and sleeping, and so on over and over again. There are no moments for you, for your enjoyment. You act like a robot, where monotony takes over, consumes and overwhelms you.

You realize that you are wasting every second that passes. Maybe because you don’t like your job or you dedicate so much time to it that you don’t have hours to do what you want so much.

After your responsibilities you are so tired that you don’t want to do anything else. Life is passing before your eyes and the opportunities to enjoy it are slipping out of your hands.

Sometimes you just have to make a little time for yourself. It is not necessary to make great efforts, although you do have to put some will on your part.

For example, before going to work, or even afterwards, you may allow yourself to go for a run or to the gym. Perhaps, if you like painting, you can take a few minutes to dedicate and that will improve your day.

Sure, you’re going to be tired after only sleeping for a few hours or after coming home from work, but don’t you deserve to do something that you really enjoy and like? This will allow you to wake up and get out of autopilot, to start enjoying life a little more.

Do something different every day

The excuses of “I don’t have time!” May come back to you. However, take this easy, because it really is not hours that you are missing.

Doing something different every day allows us to get out of that comfort zone and that automatic pilot that prevents us from thinking, that we enjoy and that causes us to act only by inertia.

No need to bungee jump today or go on retreat tomorrow. We are referring to modifying small things that are within your reach and that will not interfere in your daily life.

For example, sleeping on the other side of the bed, instead of cooking, going to a restaurant to eat, going for a walk after work, having an ice cream, trying a new class (zumba, kizomba, martial arts …) in the gym …

There are many things you can do differently to make each day special and unique. However, we always tend to stick to what is known and usual to us, how boring!

You only have one life and time is slipping through your fingers? So let it fly naturally, while you savor it, put yourself to the test and make each day become something original. Don’t waste your time always doing the same thing.

The present moment, focusing on the now is essential

Mindfulness , meditation, yoga… There are many activities that allow people to abandon that tendency to always be living in the past and in the future because… the only real thing is now!

You are always overwhelmed, aware of the time  that is not going to give you for this or the other, stressing about that important meeting you have tomorrow … and while you are not enjoying or valuing the present.

It is difficult at first to begin to focus on the now. It takes practice, patience, and adopting another way of experimenting each day. But… it will be worth the effort.

What are you waiting for to enjoy every minute without letting it slip away? Time will fly, it will pass, but it is in your hands to take advantage of it or let it happen as if nothing happened.
